How an Air Purifier Can Combat the Effects of Air Pollution at School

The other type of filter used in activated carbon filter that most used in residential area. It can also be used in combination with the HEPA filter. It removes odours but not as effectively as the HEPA filter.  

 

How an Air Purifier Works 

Air purifiers use a variety of filters to trap airborne particles. Modern air purifiers use either a high-efficiency particulate air or an activated carbon filter. A high-tech air purifier even uses both filters inside the device. Particles range from 0.3 to 10 microns in diameter, with 0.3-micron particles being the most harmful to humans. High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are the most effective for trapping microscopic particles, such as pet dander, pollen, mould spores, and bacteria. Due to their excellent filtration ability, they are used to trap and remove the vast majority of airborne particles found in a room. In the other hand, activated carbon filter used in most residential air purifiers and commonly combine with the HEPA filter. It removes odours but not as effectively as the HEPA filter. It’s not very effective at filtering out allergens, like pollen, so it’s not recommended for use in a home with people who suffer from allergies. Following that, AC filters are more effective at removing odours than removing particles like the HEPA filter. While they are a good choice for houses with less stringent air quality requirements, they are not as effective as HEPA filters at removing particles.
